Family Time In Austria

Tale: 9/12.

Location: Various places in Austria.

Mission: Show my parents a smooth way to relieve stress and inspire other middle-aged folks to do the same.

It’s been a long time coming. We used to travel together as a family a lot when I was a kid, but then life happened: Hockey which took a lot of time for me, girlfriends who took even more time (and energy), work for my parents etc. As I started my project this year one thing was for certain: I would not be able to do it without the help of my family and also I would definitely do one Tale with my parents. Sorry dear sister, you already have a family of your own so you were excluded (you know I love you).

The idea was clear from the get go: They work a way too much so I really needed to give them permanent solutions. I’m not saying I haven’t tried my hardest over the years, but my approach hasn’t probably been the smoothest. This time I was certain I was going to succeed. Here it is: Don’t teach them anything. Just show something and let them flow with it. I’ve succeeded using this pattern with many of my clients, it’s just not the easiest task to apply those solutions to the ones you care the most.

What I’ve learned over the years is that you just can’t push the envelope too much: What I mean by that is that wellness solutions as they mostly are today, simply will not make you fit overnight. Especially when we talk about people pushing 60, boot camps and HIT’s are not the way to go, they will only give you good vibes for a while if that. You need to be in this for a long run and that’s when moderate exercises come into picture. I actually suggest that you should not even talk about your exercising: Just do it and leave it at that.

Better appetite, better sleep (my parents slept for 8-10 hrs a night which is very rare) and higher energy levels. All of this happened within a few days. That only goes to show you what switching modes does for your health. After all, don't we all want a longer and a healthier life?
